What is ChipWhisperer®?

ChipWhisperer® focuses on power analysis, which uses information leaked by a device’s power consumption to mount an attack, as well as voltage and clock glitching attacks, which briefly disrupt a device’s power or clock to cause unintended behaviour (such as skipping a password check).

Hardware

ChipWhisperer® is your embedded security multitool. Features like synchronous capture make it great for  power analysis, which uses information leaked by a device’s power consumption to recover encrypted data. ChipWhisperer® also has many features for voltage and clock glitching attacks, which briefly disrupt a device’s power or clock to cause unintended behaviour like instruction skipping.

Firmware

A range of capture boards are available from the HuskyPlus to the CWNano, letting you get the features you need at a price you can afford. NewAE targets let you experiment on common microcontrollers and security implementations without cracking open consumer devices.

Software

ChipWhisperer® software is a collection of open source Python code that makes it easy to get started with embedded security. The ChipWhisperer® capture API streamlines interfacing with the hardware over USB, while the ChipWhisperer® analyzer library provides functions and structures for running analysis on captured data.
