NewAE Technology Inc. is a recently acquired Canadian company that is revolutionizing the hardware security market by making every engineer and designer aware of side-channel power analysis and glitching as important attack vectors. NewAE Technology Inc. develops open-source hardware and software solutions for performing security analysis of embedded computer systems. The current job posting is for an electrical engineer with a strong hardware and production focus. This person will be responsible for the development of new products, along with customer support, and setting up documentation for full production builds. We are a small company and are always looking for team members who are comfortable performing tasks beyond their core competencies, and who have an interest in hardware security (including participation at conferences such as AtlSecCon, Blackhat, and DEFCON). Core Responsibilities

  • Design of digital and analog electronic systems including schematic entry and high-speed PCB design. Experience with Altium Designer is an asset.

  • 4+ layer PCB design including BGA devices.

  • Overseeing production builds, including hands-on work when needed, working with external assembly contractors.

  • Proving technical support and troubleshooting for customers.

  • Creation and maintenance of customer documentation.

  • Design and modification of low-level (i.e., bare-metal ARM-based systems) firmware for microcontroller systems.

  • Creation of Python programs & maintenance of existing Python programs.

  • Documentation of design and use of revision control.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supervision of other employees and product schedules as required.

  • Testing of production devices.

  • Debugging issues, custom modifications of hardware for customers, and answering support tickets.

Desired Experiences/Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in electrical engineering considered an asset.

  • 4+ years experience in schematic entry and PCB routing of high-speed digital systems.

  • 3+ years experience with firmware development (i.e., 8-bit or 32-bit microcontrollers).

  • 2+ years Python experience.

  • Experience with cryptographic protocols or algorithms is an asset.
