[Fix your STK500]

[Overview]

Broken STK500? Don't worry, for only $15.00 (US) I'll fix it! Don't want to pay - check out my guide on how to fix your STK500 in the 'articles' section of this site.

So how's it work? Quite simple really - you mail me your STK500. Then I fix it (the most likely fix would be the replacement of the AT90S8535, AT90S1200, or MAX202) and send it back to you! So the total cost to you is:

Shipping cost to me of STK500 + $15.00 + Shipping cost back to you = ?

If I cannot fix your STK500, there is no charge (except for shipping of course). Optionally you can choose to abandon your STK500, in which case there would be no shipping cost back to you.

[Shipping]

Always send the minimum amount of material needed. Shipping the STK500 in its box with all accessories will likely weigh a considerable amount, so consider just shipping the board (in proper packaging).

Do NOT ship your STK500 using UPS - as they will charge me duty fees likely (if you live in the US). If there is any fee I have to pay to receive your shipment I will reject it (sorry), so MAKE SURE if you are shipping from outside of Canada you have pre-paid everything. If you specify differently though I can accept the fee and add it to your total bill (assuming it is under an amount you specify).

Shipping the unit back to you will done via Canada Post. See here if you are in Canada, here if you are in the US, or here for international. My postal code is L8P4M8 (it will require it) - also these calculators are to residential locations.

The bare STK500 board weighs 140 grams, the bare box that the STK500 comes in (all cables, CDs removed but cardboard insert that keeps STK500 in place still there) weighs 350 grams. So shipping the STK500 in the box it comes in will weight about 500 grams.

Sorry, but any damages due to shipping are NOT my fault - consider insuring the shipment if you are concerned.

[Warranty]

All repairs come with a 30 day XL (eXtra Limited) Warranty. This means that there will be no cost to fix your STK500 (shipping cost is extra however) if it fails again within 30 days. This warranty may be cancelled at any time, and comes fully at the discretion of Colin O'Flynn.

In reality most problems are covered by this, but the discretion part is so that if you snap your STK500 in half I will not have to fix it...

[AVR ISP]

The AVR-ISP is almost exactly the same as the programming section of the STK500, so I could fix those as well. However unless you are able to ship multiple per order it will likely be more expensive to get it fixed than to order a new one (check the shipping costs though - it may end up being a good deal).

[Order]

Before you order, you should make sure your STK500 is broken. Check the "fix your STK500" article on this site for repair ideas.

To order please contact coflynn@newae.com. Please include:
-Description of Problem
-Your location
-Any troubleshooting you have performed

Note: Any serious problems (such as snapping your STK500 in half, or frying all the parts on it) will likely not be able to be fixed!

When you e-mail me I will respond if I am able to fix it. This will be a combination of how many boards are already in the queue, and how busy I am. Then we can work out payment details. I am able to accept:
-Money Order
-Check (would need to wait for it to clear)
-Cash (if you live nearby or something)
-Any easily-used electronic method (such as send money by Yahoo e-mail)
-Possibly PayPal if NOTHING else will work, but I would prefer to not do business with PayPal if I can avoid it (see many internet sites on why)
